One of the larger crazes to arrive in the skin care industry, but this one is not just hype. Idebenone, a chemical very similar to Coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinone) is synthetic and can substitute for Coenzyme Q10 in the electron transport chain. The idea is that mitochondrial function can be limited by Coenzyme Q10 and idebenone will help older mitochondria work better. Taking into account that electron transport is a crucial part of respiration and energy production, idebenone makes sense. Adding Skin Actives idebenone to your favorite cream or lotion will not cost you $110 for 1 oz (as in a fancy store) - but just a few dollars, and will work just as well.

Each tube is enough for 5-10 fl oz of cream or lotion at 0.5-1% concentration (1.5 g in 150-300 mL cream). Use in your favorite cream or add to our Canvas or European Base Creams.

Prevage MD initially sold their product at 1% concentration, but since reports of allergic reactions has reduced the concentration to 0.5%.

Idebenone (similar to many other actives) does not like acidic pH. Do not add to an ascorbic acid cream (such as Murad treatment C) or any recipe containing Ascorbic Acid. It would be better to use a simple, inexpensive cream. Note that the color is quite intense, so lower concentrations may be preferable. This is not a dye, but the natural coloration of the product.

Warning Allergy Warning: While the FDA has not published warnings on idebenone we have found that a small number people (less than 0.5% who have tried idebenone) may have a mild allergy to the product. When first using idebenone test your cream on the inside part of your elbow to see whether you develop an adverse reaction. If you develop an allergy please discontinue use and contact us.   I like this product. I like the price, too..! Together with the other actives I use, it works well. I use this with a electricity generating device for the face...It creates ozone & oxygen. This product I add to a toner & spray on my face as I use the device. My skin is soft & this is well absorbed. It has an orange tint...so, I wash it off with cool water (no soap)after the treatment.
